The best of my Stuff, In ascending order.

Fender Gemini II

What can I say, except perhaps..sorry (to this guitar).

Great little acoustic - its been just about everywhere with me,I mean IN RIVERS and humid situations, baked in the sun,had radios dropped on it,cats knock it over (OK, that did break a tuner button)- a typical "slung it about guitar".

10 solid years of abuse in 2002!,if you find one for less than £100 try it,it may need a setup in a year or so.

Now THAT is build quality.

.

. Gives a good picture of what the thing is like.

The latest guitar AXL Tele "Player Deluxe".

Reviews.
Standard pickups lack, but, the rest of the guitar makes a nice cheapy project and here's the details.

Photo album of this little project.

Yamaha Pacifica 112 - Spot the mods? Now has proper middle pickup cover, and other pups covered properly-.

Cheap.

Kent Armstrong Vintage in bridge, and is now 7 way switched, good variety of tones.Excellent neck.

Can't beat em for the price and does a reasonable Fender impression.

My reviews of this guitar

I also had an Ibanez Roadstar 2 which is a great resonant Strat copy (rather a paper thin neck tho') and now has a single coil in the neck and 2 Fresher [Maxon slot top] pickups forming a humbucker at the bridge.

Thank your lucky stars that I have no pictures of this, repaint -don't ask!.

About equal with the Pacifica is the Epiphone Special II as detailed on the next page.

Gibson The Paul II

My Gibson The Paul 2.Great lightweight "Lester" with a slim taper neck and the 490 set (490r and 498t).

. Changed the wiring to "old" gibson for independent controls in the mid position and it has a 0.040Uf cap for the neck and a 0.022Uf cap for the bridge tone controls.

This guitar plays better than I do...main quibble is that the selector switch died after a month of (normal) use... the other one is that they don't make 'em any more.

The mods (neck pickup covered and capacitor changed) mean I can go from Chuck Berry - type mellow at the neck to Eddie Van Hire/ Jimmy at the Bridge.

Reviews of this guitar..

It's not perfect...but cheaper Gibsons are Fine guitars for the money. I was also fairly impressed with the Les Paul (twin P100) special...except the 100s are a little lame.

Links and Stuff below

...and at BLOODY LAST the [Note:now old and poor quality] full zipped wav file (3.3meg) with all the soundfiles in all their gory,er "glory"

Soundfiles of Cheri,Kramer,Yam,Gemini II and Gibson.

Explanation of how the soundfiles were recorded.

Here i will write a list with brief details, positive and negative, of all the recent guitars I have owned, never paid more than £450 for any and I never damn well will :)

1: Axe HM thing =Twin Humbucker strat, Gibson type neck profile, but poor action and build.

2.)Squier Bullet -cheap strat shallow neck but great allround "weildability" Details of Squier.

3.)Aria AMB 35 Electro-acoustic.Felt "tight to play",perhaps I misunderstood it??.

4.)Squier Affinity Strat= Oh so slightly better version of Bullet.

4a.)Kramer Focus VTS111= It's Ok.

5.)Cheri Telecaster= Read more on other pages.

6.)Fresher Les paul copy = Fine Lester copy spoilt by cheap tuners and poor frets due to age. Many old "Columbus" copies and similar suffer from this too, naturally, so unless £50 or less..avoid.Don't buy one from ebay for more than £100 as this is what scam mongers are now charging due to the nostalgia market.

7.)Vintage SG copy= Read more on other pages, if you do your own setups "Vintage" brand guitars are, by and large, bargains.Their Telecaster copy rated very highly in a "What Guitar" magazine test.

8.)Dean EVo P= Around here somewheres.

9.)Yamaha Pacifica 112 around somewhere- stick Golden Age or Kent armstrong pickups in and you have a real winner, which will last you.

10.)Gibson The Paul II, I'm partial to lightweight Lesters,it would seem... on.

Remember that despite my trying to be "objective" and give succinct opinons in order,it is all subjective-- "Suits YOU Sir",indeed . So it follows that guitar listed as 1 will be lower ranked than 10.They'll be ranked upwards not "out of 10". Lowest score -which should be avoided unless you are very curious= at top of page nicer at bottom of page.

There are reviews of Cheap Gibson copies on the next page, the above is for those guitars owned 2001-2003,yes, I'm a slut.

The clones Gibson, derived thereof, unlikely to die as dolly as.
